What we check

Eight records decide whether your email lands

Your email provider

Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, GoDaddy, Zoho, or your web host's own mail server. Read straight from the MX records, with a link to where you actually sign in. Useful more often than you would think, because the person who set it up has usually left.

Mail servers, and whether they answer

Every mail server on the domain, in the order mail tries them, with the IP behind each one. Then we connect to the primary and see if it says hello, which is the difference between mail that is configured and mail that is working.

SPF, counted properly

SPF quietly dies at eleven DNS lookups, and the cost is almost always buried inside somebody else's include. We follow every include to the bottom and give you the real number, plus a warning if there are two records, which breaks SPF entirely.

DKIM signing keys

We check the selectors your provider actually publishes under, plus the common ones every marketing platform uses, and report the key strength. An unsigned domain is a domain anyone can convincingly impersonate.

DMARC policy

Whether you have one, whether it does anything, and whether the reports go anywhere. Gmail and Yahoo now require DMARC from anyone sending in volume, and monitor-only mode does not count.

Where the DNS lives

The nameservers holding all of this, and the company that controls them. When something needs changing, this is the account you need access to, and it is often not the one people assume.

The hardening layer

MTA-STS, TLS reporting, BIMI and DNSSEC. None are required and all are cheap, and together they are the difference between a domain that looks like a real business and one that looks like a target.

Is it actually free?

Yes. No trial, no card, no catch. We fix this stuff for clients most weeks, and a lookup that genuinely helps you is the best marketing we have.

Do you read my email?

No, and we could not if we wanted to. Everything here comes from public DNS records, the same ones every mail server on the internet reads before it delivers a message to you. No mailbox is opened and nothing is logged into.

What is the hello you send my mail server?

A single connection on the standard mail port, an EHLO, and a QUIT. That is the opening handshake of every email ever delivered to you, minus the email. It tells us the server is up and whether it offers encryption, and it sends nothing to anyone.

You said no DKIM key. Are you sure?

Only when we know the provider. DKIM records hide behind a selector name, and there is no way to list them, so we check the selectors your provider publicly documents plus the usual defaults. When we recognise your provider and none of its selectors answer, that is a real finding. When we do not, the report says so instead of guessing.

Why does my mail go to spam when everything says green?

Records are the floor, not the ceiling. Sending reputation, list hygiene, content and volume all matter too. But nearly every small business we look at has a records problem underneath the reputation problem, and no amount of rewriting subject lines fixes a missing DKIM key.

Can I check a domain I do not own?

Yes. Every record here is published deliberately so the rest of the internet can read it. Checking a supplier before you trust an invoice from them is a reasonable thing to do.

What do you do with my email address?

You use it to unlock the report, and we send you a copy. No drip sequence, no campaign, and it never gets sold or shared.
